Hansen Organic farm has been in our family since 1905.
We are the 4th generation to have worked this land. The old barn which still functions today was built by my great-grandfather along with his sons and neighbors before 1910. There is a row of seven huge oaks on the north side which my grandfather said were "that size" as long as he could remember. Since the early 1980's I’ve been studying sustainable agriculture and organic farming practices, with the hope to pursue that path. As I began working on the farm again over the recent 8-10 years, I noticed a significant absence of wildlife, insects and other crawling creatures, all the result of previous conventional farming practices. Now, just two years into the organic transition, the turnaround has been amazing. This is going to be a joyful endeavor!
